The tool generates individualised letters based on what people care about, from whale protection to climate change and future generations, and sends them directly to the Prime Minister, the Resources Minister, the Environment Minister, as well as relevant state and federal MPs.

82 tier 1 publications

Across the 2 month campaign, Compass secured coverage on Surfrider's new tool and paddle-out across 81 tier 1 publications across print, digital and broadcast media.

2 Week Extension

Following strong public interest and the level of community engagement generated, the federal government extended the community consultation by 2 weeks. This extension is a direct response to the groundswell of concern from coastal communities, surfers, fishers and environmental groups who’ve rallied around protecting these waters. With only days remaining, there’s a renewed push to ensure as many voices as possible are heard before the consultation closes by using Surfrider's new letter-writing tool.

Protecting Australian Oceans

“This is about giving people an easy, powerful way to speak up,” McPherson said. “You shouldn’t need hours of policy knowledge to defend the ocean you love. This tool makes sure decision-makers hear directly from the people who will live with the consequences of these choices.”
